Performing as Burlesque Star Katherine Lashe
The Girl Behind the Behind
Katherine Lashe's burlesque debut was opening for Dita von Teese in 2003. After her first foray into the world of glamor and glitz she became insatiable for the draw of the burlesque stage, and has performed steadily since August of 2004. These days, she performs in and produces shows regularly all over the country. Her performance pieces have their own style with her original blend of cute 1950's pin-up peppered with the fantastic flare of her more punk-rock roots.
In 2006, she began producing shows independently, then under the Syrens of the South Productions, which she was pivotal in conceiving. Miss Lashe was featured in Access Atlanta for her very first stand alone Art Show and Burlesque production in June 2006, and has been featured in numerous publications since including, but not exclusive to The Boston Herald, the Tampa Bay Times, Bust Magazine and the cover of Pin Curl Magazine just to name a few. Along with her performance and booking acumen, she is also a noted pin-up model. In March 2007 she was named Miss Pin-up Vixen, she was one of the Java Bachelor Pad Cuties in 2007 and 2008 and was Honk-it-up.com's official pin-up for January AND April of 2008.
In 2007 she made her festival debut in The Great Boston Burlesque Expo's first competition only to follow it up with showcasing a duet with Syrens of the South at The Burlesque Hall of Fame in Las Vegas.
Her illustrious performances in 2008 included the honor of being one of only six international competitors in the Miss Viva Las Vegas competition to then turn around and compete with Syrens of the South at The Burlesque Hall of Fame in the Best Duet catagory as one of only five duets chosen from around the world. They then took their duet to the Asheville Americana Burlesque and Sideshow Festival(ABSFest) where Katherine also taught her Burlesque History Class. She then went on to perform in New York for the Coney Island Rockabilly Festival.
In 2009 she performed at The Texas Burlesque Festival, The ABSFest and at the House of Blues for the first ever New Orleans Burlesque Festival. Katherine taught her Business of Burlesque Class at both ABSFest and then at The New Orleans Burlesque Festival under the classes organized by The New York School of Burlesque.
In 2010 Katherine Lashe performed with The Party Tour, The Dallas Burlesque Festival, Windy City Burlesque Festival (where she also taught her Burlesque Business class), Texas Burlesque Festival, Dragon*Con and with the Dangerous Curves Ahead: Burlesque On the Go-Go Fall tour.
In 2011, Katherine Lashe was the executive producer under Syrens of the South Productions for The First Annual Southern Fried Burlesque Fest where she also taught and performed. She also brought burlesque to Jackson, MS, with beginning burlesque classes as well as shows. She was very sad to have to turn down an invitation to perform for the third year in a row at the Texas Burlesque Fest, but was thrilled to perform for the third time at ABSFest in June. She also performed with the Southern Exposure Spring Tour, the Grab My Junk Summer Tour and the Dragon*Con Cabaret.
In 2012 Southern Fried Burlesque Fest celebrated it's second year with Katherine producing and performing. In June she will be competing at the 3rd Annual Carolina Burlesque Festival in the Sweet Tease Pageant.
She is famous for her ass-ets and is known as The Girl Behind the Behind. There is no doubt that Katherine Lashe will leave her mark on the burlesque world with her fabulous productions, and attention to the finer details that make this Burlesque Revival go POW!!!
